Difficult but interesting weekend in Spa

This was a difficult weekend as the car was just not fast enough. It was an interesting race though and finally the rain in the end helped me as I had a rain setup in the car. It was nice to overtake Kobayashi and Michael after the restart. Now im off to Ibiza!

Cela a été agréable de faire une petite pause, mais je serai content de reprendre la course le week-end prochain. Spa est sans conteste l’un de mes circuits favoris et aussi l’un des plus exigeants sur lesquels nous courons. Le tour est vraiment très rapide, avec quelques virages impressionnants, y compris celui de l’Eau rouge bien sûr, et c’est un endroit magnifique où piloter une F1. Le dernier Grand Prix, en Hongrie, a été difficile pour nous, mais je sais que tout le monde à l’usine a donné un sérieux coup de collier depuis la fermeture et nous espérons avoir un meilleur week-end à Spa.

Een korte pauze was prettig, maar ik zie ernaar uit om komend weekend weer te gaan racen. Spa is zonder twijfel een van mijn favoriete circuits. Het is een van de banen die ons de meeste uitdagingen bieden. Het is een zeer snel parcours met enkele fantastische bochten, waaronder uiteraard Eau Rouge. Het is gewoon een geweldig circuit voor een formule 1-wagen. De vorige race in Hongarije was lastig voor ons, maar ik weet zeker dat iedereen in de fabriek hard heeft gewerkt na de tijdelijke sluiting, en we hopen dat we komend weekend in Spa meer succes behalen.

1st Triathlon experience

The triathlon was a great experience. I got pushed under water at the start and breathed in a lot of water which wasn’t nice because I started coughing and it took quite some time to find a nice rhythm after that. The bike was the most fun. Although there was one steep small mountain which we had to pass over twice which was tough. The run was not fun because I suffered a lot. I had stitches and I hadn’t eaten enough carbohydrates so I was really struggling. But running was still my strongest discipline. I finished 44th out of a couple of hundred which was good for a first timer, and considering that I started training from zero in December. I look forward to competing more often in future. I recovered very quickly so it’s not a problem to combine it with racing.

Budapest remek város, a légkör szinte vibrál az egész városban és a pályán is végig a versenyhétvégén, úgyhogy mindig örülök, amikor ide érkezünk. A Hungaroring azon pályák egyike, amelyek igazi technikai kihívást jelentenek, és öröm rajtuk vezetni. Mivel a pályán előzni nehéz, ezért nagyon fontos, hogy az időmérőn a lehető legjobb helyet érjük el. A jó szereplés az időmérőkön mostanában nem tartozott az erősségeink közé, ezért egész hétvégén keményen fogunk dolgozni a felkészülésen, hogy a lehető legjobb eséllyel vághassunk neki a versenynek. Tavaly sikerült Magyarországon jó eredményt elérnem, a negyedik helyen végeztem, idén is jó volna az élmezőnybe jutni.

It was not such a great weekend considering that i was convinced that i would be on the podium. Anyways now off to Provence for a few days of relaxing with family…

Im happy with third. Going to the right direction again. Just went to the barbecue of my team. It’s nice to meet all the families of all the people working here. Now off to London for a small celebration with friends…

Up and down birthday, the race was horrible due to some tyre problems. Good thing was the German Team destroyed the British at football … great match!!! And thanks to everybody for their greeting cards!

Feeling good before Valencia

Feeling pleased as I had a fun week of F1 and triathlon training at home. Although shocked at how long it seems to take to become a strong cyclist. I also tested future car upgrades in the simulator and they felt promising. Should be able to put in some strong races in the near future. Bring on Valencia!

Gran Premi d’Europa – Prèvia

Esta serà la tercera visita a València de la Fórmula 1 i la veritat és que tinc moltes ganes que arribe el cap de setmana. La ciutat és magnífica i els aficionats espanyols són sempre molt entusiastes, per la qual cosa és segur que hi haurà un gran ambient als voltants del port esportiu. El circuit de València és molt bo; no és allò que normalment s’espera d’un traçat urbà típic. Encara que hi ha moltes revoltes, és molt ràpid i fluid, i tot això, unit a les tanques de protecció que voregen el circuit, significa que els nivells de concentració s’han de mantindre molt alts. L’última carrera al Canadà va ser difícil per al nostre equip, però per fortuna vaig aconseguir acabar sext i sumar una puntuació acceptable després d’haver estat en la posició tretze en la primera volta. Vam mantindre un ritme ràpid durant la carrera i espere que les millores que incorporem a València ens permeten aconseguir encara millors resultats.
