Nico Rosberg: “Every year, I’m amazed by the terrific enthusiasm displayed by Japanese fans, and it’s nice to think that we can bring some cheer and light relief to people in Japan after the hard times of recent months since the disaster in March. The country and the track at Suzuka are super – plenty of fast turns that are truly awesome and fantastic fun in a Formula One car. We should see a lot more overtaking too thanks to new tyres and DRS. We’ll again try to get the most out of the upgrade package from Singapore, and we’re looking at seventh place under normal circumstances. Our team gained in strength last week with the arrival of Geoff Willis and Aldo Costa, which shows that we are preparing to go all out, to push even harder next year. It won’t happen overnight, but we’re on the right track.”

Nico Rosberg: “I had a good fast lap in Q3 and we were able to take the most out of the car today so I’m quite satisfied. Starting in seventh place was the maximum that we could have achieved, although Massa was very close so it was definitely worth trying to catch him. Being on the clean side at the grid gives me a good position for the start, so I will try to make up positions there and score some good points. I think it will be an exciting race here with all the new things like DRS and the Pirelli tyres.”

Nico Rosberg after Friday´s practise sessions: “Singapore is a demanding track for us drivers – it’s the longest and toughest race of the season. You could see that from my face after free practice. Broadly speaking, the circuit resembles my home race in Monaco, except that here you’ve got a few more run-off zones. In Monaco, the slightest error is immediately punished – you find yourself colliding with a wall. The race itself is certainly going to be difficult. I’ve used today to make my preparations and I’ve tried out the setup that we plan to use on Sunday. Our target for this weekend is to finish in the points again.”

Nico Rosberg arrived in the paddock: “I like Singapore – it’s a great city with a fabulous atmosphere. I’m always impressed to see how much the place has developed in the twelve months since my last visit. Generally speaking, I enjoy driving on street circuits. They are a tough challenge, and that suits me fine. I always seem to raise my performance for Singapore: in 2008, I finished second behind Fernando Alonso, which is my best Formula One result to date. I hope I can be up with the front-runners again this year. We’ve brought a number of new parts with us, so we’re hoping that will help us raise our game.”

Today Mercedes-Benz China launched at Chengdu autoshow the new TV Commercial starring MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Driver Nico Rosberg and the chinese actress Fan BingBing. Nico Rosberg: “That was really crazy, for a couple of hours during the evening half of the city was blocked to public traffic because of the action scenes. It was the biggest production I have ever been involved in. Thanks to Mercedes-Benz for this great opportunity to get closer to my Chinese fans.” Watch out:

Q1：What’s your impression to the SLK cars?
Nico Rosberg: It’s a great car. I had an opportunity to drive it last year in November in the mountains near my home in Monaco. It’s a sporty car to drive with a fantastic design; I’m sure it’s going to be a great success.

Q2: What’s your impression about Mercedes-Benz brand?
Nico Rosberg: Mercedes is one of the most prestigious and most respected brands in the world, known for luxury, performance and the very best technology. I am proud to race for the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One team and to be a part of the story of the famous Silver Arrows has given me even more passion for Mercedes-Benz.

Q3: What’s your feeling about SLK ‘Masquerade’ TVC production?
Nico Rosberg: It’s always an interesting experience for me, to see other professionals working at the top of their game, and to understand how many little details have to be right for the end product to be perfect – just like in Formula One. I think the concept of the advertising campaign is really cool, so I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Q4: How you evaluate the actress FBB’s performance?
Nico Rosberg: I’m a racing driver, not a professional critic, so I don’t know how much you should listen to my opinion! It’s very impressive to see how she approaches everything as a professional actress – her attention to detail was very precise. It was great to meet FBB, and I know she is a big superstar in China. Maybe next year when I am in Shanghai, I will be able to catch one of her movies to learn even more.

Nico Rosberg starting ninth in Monza tomorrow: “Ninth on the grid might not look too wonderful at first sight, but because we were running hard tyres for the final segment of qualifying, more was possible. This decision, to go out on the hard compound, was a compromise that puts us in a good position for the race. We’ll have to wait and see, of course, if we made the right call, but I might be able to move up the field one or two places in the race as a result of this strategy. Our speed looks very good. I was only three tenths down on Sebastian under the same conditions, which is just fabulous. We’ve made progress and at any rate, we’ll be even quicker in race trim.”
