Nico Rosberg: “The season is coming to an end, and although it has by no means been a perfect one from our point of view, we can still look back on a few highlights such as the race in China which I led for a time. Obviously, everyone on the team is working very hard to make sure we raise ourperformance next year, and from the progress that I’ve seen so far, I’m very confident that we can do it. But before then, we want to sign off on a high note in Brazil. I have very fond memories of this circuit and I always enjoy driving there. The track characteristics should suit our Silver Arrow very well. Lap times are always very close here, so we can expect an exciting weekend. And who knows, it may even rain, which is sure to add an element of unpredictability to the race.”

Das MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Team und Nico Rosberg einigten sich auf eine mehrjährige Vertragsverlängerung, inklusive der Saison 2013 und darüber hinaus.

Nico fährt seit der Saison 2010 für MERCEDES GP PETRONAS. Seitdem erzielte er mit dem Team drei Podestplätze sowie 217 Punkte und zeigte konstant, dass er mit den Spitzenfahrern in der Formel 1 mithalten kann.

Nico Rosberg sagte: „Ich bin sehr glücklich, meinen Vertrag mit MERCEDES GP PETRONAS verlängert zu haben. Wenn ich mein erstes Rennen in einem Silberpfeil gewinne, wird dies einer der Höhepunkte in meinem bisherigen Leben sein. Ich freue mich sehr, dabei zu helfen, unser Team an die Spitze der Formel 1 zu führen. Ich habe volles Vertrauen in das Team, dass es mir ein siegfähiges Auto zur Verfügung stellen wird und wir gemeinsam weitere Erfolge zur fantastischen Rennsport-Tradition der Silberpfeile beitragen können.

In his latest Videoblog to his fans on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter Nico Rosberg announces that he extended his contract with Mercedes GP Petronas!

MERCEDES GP PETRONAS is delighted to confirm that the team and Nico Rosberg have agreed a multi-year contract extension to include the 2013 season and beyond.

Since joining MERCEDES GP PETRONAS for the 2010 season, Nico has achieved three podiums, scored 217 points and demonstrated that he belongs to the top group of drivers currently racing in Formula One.

Nico Rosberg said: “I am very excited to have extended my contract with the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS team. To win in a Silver Arrow will be one of the highlights of my life so far, and I greatly enjoy helping to lead our team in our quest to become the best in Formula One. I have every confidence that the team will provide me with a winning car, and that we will be able to contribute to the fantastic racing heritage of the Silver Arrows. I look forward to great times in the years ahead with the Mercedes-Benz family.”

For 2012, MERCEDES GP PETRONAS will enjoy stability in its driver line-up for a third consecutive season, with Nico driving alongside compatriot Michael Schumacher.

Nico Rosberg after the first Indian Qualifying: “We could have done better today, but on my final hot lap, I had to ease off because of the yellow flags that came out for Felipe’s crash. I was only shown yellow after I’d passed the spot, but I decided to lift anyway. Otherwise, I might have qualified higher than seventh. The car worked well, I felt comfortable with it and I was able to keep pushing. We did a lot of work in free practice on getting the setup right for the race itself, so I’m confident in this respect. I’m intending to attack tomorrow, and hopefully I’ll be giving some of the drivers ahead of me a hard time.”
